Abstract

This article explores cross-curricular approaches to language learning in primary education, emphasizing how integrating language learning with subjects such as mathematics, science, arts, and social studies can foster holistic cognitive and linguistic development in children. As educational practices increasingly favor interdisciplinary learning, this study investigates how a cross-curricular approach impacts young learners’ motivation, engagement, and language acquisition, particularly in multilingual or English as a Foreign Language (EFL) contexts. The methodology involves a qualitative review of recent scholarly literature, classroom case studies, and theoretical frameworks in pedagogy and linguistics. Findings suggest that cross-curricular integration supports meaningful communication, enhances vocabulary development, promotes critical thinking, and bridges the gap between academic subjects and real-world language use. This approach aligns with constructivist theories, which argue that learning is most effective when knowledge is constructed through meaningful contexts. The article concludes that cross-curricular language learning offers a promising route to more inclusive, engaging, and effective primary education and provides suggestions for best practices in implementation.
